First pics of new Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR released
Italian engineering firm Romeo Ferraris has the highly-anticipated Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR ready for testing. Despite missing the target of being on the grid in Macau for the season finale, the car is now ready to hit the track.
“It has been hard work, because we had in mind the target of running the Giulietta before the end of the season,” admitted CEO Mario Ferraris. “Finally the first car was completed and the engine tested on the bench with promising results. We are now ready to begin the technical development on the track.”
With Salvatore Tavano ready to take on driving duties in the streets of the former Portuguese colony and Ferraris admittedly looking forward to a fantastic showcase of the firm’s new creature, the Italians elected not to join the field underprepared: “Unfortunately that plan proved to be a bit too optimistic. On top of this, we did not want to risk that lack of preparation and experience could affect our first appearance in the championship. Especially not on a difficult track like Macau!”
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR, which will cost around 98,000€ + data acquisition, will undergo developement as early as next week in Italy, with previously appointed driver Salvatore Tavano sharing driving duties with Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance regular Mario Ferraris.
Romeo Ferraris will produce ten Giuliettas by April 2016.
