Titles on offer at penultimate round of the ETCC in Zolder this weekend

The penultimate round of the 2015 FIA European Touring Car Cup takes place in Zolder, Belgium this weekend, as the series pairs up with the European Truck Racing Championship for the first time this season.

19 cars are entered this weekend, with two cars lost from the Single-Make Trophy class with the Serbian LEIN Racing team absent from the grid, but with an addition in the Super 1600 class with Luxembourg driver Ben Lintgen making his second appearance in the Cup driving a Ford Fiesta 1.6.

The competitive Single-Make Trophy and TC2 class titles will definitely go to the wire in Pergusa next month with double points on offer in Sicily, meaning neither Dusan Borkovic or Michal Matejovsky can wrap up their drivers’ title aspirations this weekend, but it is mathematically possible for S1600 driver Nicklas Mackschin and TC2T class driver Davit Kajaia to secure their respective titles this weekend after dominant displays this season.

Mackschin has won all but one race from the first eight races, when he finished second to Ulrike Krafft in the first race in Slovakia, while Liqui Moly Team Engstler driver Kajaia has dominated the TC2T class, winning every race so far, and if he can pull out 12 points over Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport’s Aytac Biter this weekend, he can be confirmed as the TC2T drivers’ champion on Sunday.
