Descombes and Avila to race at Sepang with Asia Racing Team

Philippe Descombes and Rodolfo Avila have been announced as the two drivers behind the wheel of Asia Racing Team’s SEAT Léon Racers ahead of this weekend’s TCR Asia Series curtain raiser in Malaysia.

The Frenchman, who enjoyed success in single seaters in Asia in the early 2000’s before moving to a driver’s coach role within the team, returns to the cockpit for the Sepang event this weekend.

Descombes will be joined by Porsche Carrera Cup Asia regular Avila, with the aim of finding the true potential of the car ahead of a full assault to the championship in 2016.

ART’s Chief of Operations Sérgio Fonseca commented: “It’s a great opportunity for this event to have Phillipe and Rodolfo test the cars and collect some precious data to prepare for the coming events.”

The weekend will start today with two practice sessions and qualifying, before the two races which will be held on Saturday and on Sunday.
