Timo Scheider excluded from Race 2 at the Red Bull Ring
Audi Sport Team Phoenix’ Timo Scheider has been excluded from the result of the second race held at the Red Bull Ring, host of the fifth round of the 2015 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season, this afternoon. The German was found responsible for pushing Mercedes’ Robert Wickens, which ended with both the Canadian and Pascal Wehrlein’s races.
After a long investigation by the stewards, the 2008 and 2009 champion was found responsible for the incident, which happened at Turn 3 during the last lap of the race.
At that moment, Pascal Wehrlein had just overtaken Scheider and Wickens, and was sixth. Scheider nudged Wickens, who couldn’t avoid Wehrlein. Both Mercedes went into the gravel trap and were out of the race, whilst the Team Phoenix driver was sixth at the chequered flag.
After Scheider’s exclusion, the drivers behind him have been moved up one place. This means that local hero Lucas Auer gets sixth position, followed by fellow Mercedes AMG drivers Maximilian Götz, Christian Vietoris and Paul Di Resta. BMW’s António Félix Da Costa is now tenth and gets the final point.
