Andy Yan content with podium result in South Korea
Changan Ford FRD driver Andy Yan leaves the Korean round of the China Touring Car Championship with a five point lead in the drivers’ standings over Kia’s Jason Zhang.
The reigning champion had to fight off the Kias of Jim Ka To and Larry Lin Le Feng for second place during the race, but with the championship leading success ballast, and following a collision with the Kia of Leo Yi Hong Li early on, admitted there was nothing he could do about race winner Zhang.
“My racing car was the heaviest one among the grid, which is about 1,225kg,” said Yan.
“(My) opponents’ attack and (the) tyres wearing out made me feel that the adjustment of my car and my defense worked so well. I would like to thank everyone in Changan Ford Racing Team, especially our professional engineers and excellent mechanics. Thank you for offering me such a good car.
“I think I still have chance to fight for the championship if I didn’t made contact with the other driver in the first corner. (At the) next round we will try our best to get the best result at the Guangdong International Circuit.”
