Last minute change as CTCC champ Jiang Tengyi joins Target
2014 China Touring Car Championship drivers’ champion Jiang Tengyi will drive the fourth SEAT León of points leaders Target Competition this weekend, with the team’s scheduled driver Alex Yang stepping aside at the last minute as he’s about to become a father.
Jiang won the competitive China Touring Car Championship last year in a controversial season, driving an RML prepared Volkswagen Polo 1.6T in the championship, having just moved across from the factory Ford squad during the 2013-2014 season close.
Jiang’s presence on the grid in Target’s fourth León, running the car #5, maintains a 16 car entry for this weekend’s second round of the TCR International Series, with four SEATs fielded by Target, three SEATs by Craft-Bamboo Lukoil, three Hondas by WestCoast Racing, a single SEAT by Zengo Motorsport, a split of an Opel Astra and a SEAT León by Campos Racing, as well as a mix of two Audi TTs and one SEAT by Liqui Moly Team Engstler.
The first free practice session is scheduled to get underway at 12:00 on Friday, immediately after Formula 1’s first practice.
