Filipe de Souza replaces Pasquale Di Sabatino at Engstler
Filipe Clemente de Souza will take over the second BMW 320 TC raced by Italian driver Pasquale Di Sabatino earlier this year, for the remaining rounds of the 2014 FIA World Touring Car Championship.
The Macanese driver, who regularly competes in his home event, last year competing for China Dragon Racing in a Super 2000-spec Chevrolet Lacetti, is the second driver confirmed for the Asian rounds, with last year’s Asian Trophy champion Yukinori Taniguchi expected to return with NIKA Racing.
The Liqui Moly Team Engstler operation will also field a third BMW 320 TC in the TC2T class at the season finale for Mak Ka Lok. This is the car the team entered in the opening round of the FIA European Touring Car Cup at Paul Ricard for Engstler, but has still not been used in a race.
With Di Sabatino out of the Championship, this leaves Campos Racing’s John Filippi as the only mathematical challenger for the 2014 Yokohama Trophy for TC2T cars against Engstler, but the Corsican driver is 74 points behind with just 112 remaining from the final four events.
