Nikolay Karamyshev tops first test at Spa
Campos Racing’s Nikolay Karamyshev was fastest in the first 45 minute test session at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, with the TC2T points leader ahead of the TC2 points leader Petr Fulín, as light rain began to fall in the final minutes.
The Russian driver lapped the circuit with a time of 2:36.058, some three seconds off of the Super 2000 qualifying lap record set by Augusto Farfus in the 2005 WTCC season with the Alfa Romeo 156.
Fulín was 1.5 seconds off the pace, but comfortably fastest in the TC2 class for normally aspirated cars, where his team-mate Michal Matejovsky was his closest rival, a full 2.8 seconds slower in fifth.
Ukraine’s Igor Skuz was third overall and the second fastest of the TC2T contingent in the second Campos Racing Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T, with Slovakian driver Mat’o Homola fourth in the turbocharged BMW 320 TC.
Aku Pellinen was quickest in the Single-Make Trophy class for SEAT León Supercopas, eighth overall, closely followed by class rivals Andreas Pfister and Dmitry Bragin, while Ulrike Krafft led the way in the Super 1600 class in her Ravenol Team Ford Fiesta, 20th overall and three seconds quicker than the next closest S1600 car, the Team LuxMotor Ford Fiesta of Gille Bruckner.
The ETCC has a second 45 minute test at 15:30 CET.
