Second WTCC race in Slovakia cancelled due to heavy rain
With the weather conditions not improving since the first race, with rain continuing to fall at the Slovakiaring circuit, the officials have taken the decision to cancel the race.
The cancellation is the first in the FIA World Touring Car Championship’s history, but with cars aquaplaning heavily in the first race, it seemed certain that with the rain set to continue, and with the fading light at the circuit where it is now 6pm CET, the cancellation was forthcoming.
Honda’s Tiago Monteiro was to have started the race from pole position with Campos Racing’s Hugo Valente alongside, with the three Citroens due to start eighth, ninth and tenth on the reversed grid.
