Igor Skuz on top again in second test at Paul Ricard
Campos Racing’s Igor Skuz led another Campos 1-2 in the second one hour test session for the ETCC at the Paul Ricard circuit in France ahead of team-mate Nikolay Karamyshev and Proteam Racing’s Mikhail Grachev.
The Ukrainian was just over a tenth of a second faster that team-mate Karamyshev as just 26 of the 31 cars entered for the weekend took part, with the two TC2T class Chevrolets again dominating the time sheets.
Mikhail Grachev led a trio of turbocharged BMWs in third, 1.6 seconds down on Skuz’s Chevrolet. Behind Grachev was Slovakian Mat’o Homola and German driver Franz Engstler, with Petr Fulín the fastest of the normally aspirated TC2 class cars in sixth in his Krenek Motorsport BMW 320si.
Andreas Pfister was the fastest of the Single-Make Trophy class cars, setting the seventh fastest time in his SEAT León Supercopa, with Dmitry Bragin the second quickest of the SMT SEAT Leóns in eighth , the two drivers splitting the two Krenek BMWs of Fulín and Michal Matejovsky, with Finnish driver Aku Pellinen completing the top ten.
The session was uneventful just as the first test, though SMP Russian Bears driver Mikhail Maleev again was given a black and white flag for regularly exceeding the track limits as he had in the first test.
The majority of the cars choosing to skip the session were from the Super 1600 class, leaving female Ukrainian driver Ksenya Niks the only reprentative of the S1600 class in the session. She lapped the circuit 21.9 seconds off the pace in 26th and last in the 1.6 litre normally aspirated Ravenol Team Ford Fiesta.
