Yvan Muller drops to fourth, with Q3 time deleted in Morocco
Citroën’s Yvan Muller drops to fourth on the grid after his lap time was disallowed from the third part of qualifying for cutting the second chicane. This promotes Sébastien Loeb to the front row for his WTCC debut, and ROAL’s Tom Chilton to third.
The Frenchman admitted his error after qualifying. His time was still good enough to be provisionally classified in second position, just 0.018 seconds behind team-mate José María López, but with his time deleted he will line-up fourth on the grid for race one ahead of Campos Racing’s Dusan Borkovic, and perhaps crucially, the top placed Citroën driver in seventh for race two.
The time deletion also affects the Championship points, with José María López officially the Championship leader on five points, Sébastien Loeb in second on four points with Tom Chilton third on three points.
The first race gets under way at 16:15 WEST on Sunday, immediately followed by race two.
