Pepe Oriola back with Campos for Asian races
Pepe Oriola is back with Campos Racing for the Asian races of the 2014 FIA World Touring Car Championship.
“Despite having many offers on my desk, I did not want to leave WTCC. With Campos Racing I have the opportunity to remain active in the championship, bringing my experience to the team and its drivers,” said Oriola.
The Spaniard, who won his first WTCC race last year at Marrakech, is going to drive a SEAT León this year in the TC2T class at Shanghai, Suzuka and Macau.
Oriola will also function as mentor for the team’s drivers taking part in the FIA European Touring Car Cup: Igor Skuz and Nikolay Karamyshev.
The 17-year-old was linked with the Onyx Race Engineering WTCC programme earlier, which stalled due to no support from Ford.
Oriola was also looking at a GT deal in Asia, but has elected to take part in the Asian WTCC rounds instead with support from Cali Macau, and is working on a project for 2015.
