Erik Jonsson confirmed at WestCoast Racing

Erik Jonsson has been confirmed to drive for WestCoast Racing in the 2014 season of the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship.
”This is going to be great and the trust that I have been given from WestCoast Racing is something I really want to make use of,” said Jonsson.

The 24-year-old drove in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia last year, finishing sixth overall and has previously raced in the Junior Touring Car Championship in Sweden.
”Erik has been on our radar for long and it feels great to give him the opportunity together with us. We are going to make sure that Erik gets the best possible conditions with us,” said team owner Dick Jönsson-Wigroth.

Jonsson tested for the team last year and is hoping to perform well in his first ever STCC season.
”This feels like a bigger step than when I went from JTCC to Porsche. I am going to be put against the best drivers in Sweden, it is a tough challenge and I have realistic expectations. I am longing for the first test with the team,” said Jonsson.

Jonsson is the so far only confirmed driver for the BMW team, a second driver is expected to be revealed shortly.
