First two new RML Chevrolets to test this week at Valencia
The first of the new Chevrolet Cruzes, built for the FIA World Touring Car Championship’s TC1 class, have completed their shakedown run and will get their first proper test later this week in the hands of customer teams Campos Racing and ROAL Motorsport at the Circuito Ricardo Tormo in Valencia.
“The timeline for this project has been incredibly tight and I was immensely proud of everyone involved when car 001 rolled out this morning,” said RML Motorsport Director Ron Hartvelt.
“That this shakedown was successfully completed to the schedule we predicted back in October is a testament to the talent and dedication of the whole organisation. Of course we would have much preferred a proper test and development programme before handing the cars over, but we are confident that the customer teams will do a good job.”
The first two cars are destined for Frenchman Hugo Valente and British driver Tom Chilton, who had confirmed their orders in November last year. The next two cars will also go to ROAL and Campos, for drivers Tom Coronel and Dusan Borkovic, with the final two cars being prepared for Münnich Motorsport, which will field cars for Gianni Morbidelli and René Münnich.
The start of the 2014 season is just under a month away at the Marrakech circuit in Morocco on April 13th.
