Clio Cup champion Andreas Wernersson joins Brovallen Design
Double Clio Cup Sweden champion Andreas Wernersson is going to drive for Brovallen Design in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season finale at Mantorp Park this weekend.
“It is going to be really exciting. I am really grateful to Tobias and the team that they are giving me this opportunity,” said Wernersson.
The 18-year-old tested for the team at Tierp Arena two weeks ago and team owner Tobias Johansson was pleased.
“That he performed so well during the test was a contributing reason that we were able to secure this with our partners. He is one of the most promising drivers in the country and we want to give him the opportunity to test STCC and show him that it could be a career choice for him. My ambition is that we are going to have a junior in the team,” said Wernersson.
Wernersson secured his second straight Clio Cup title at Karlskoga earlier this year and is hoping for a giving STCC debut.
“I am humble ahead of my task, it is a huge change for me. I need to learn the car and my ambition for the first race is just to finish. I hope to close in on the others in the second race and it would be great if I could score a point,” said Wernersson.
Wernersson is going to drive alongside Jocke Mangs at Brovallen Design at Mantorp Park, replacing Alx Danielsson who has driven the two past races in the second car of the team.
