Ibrahim Okyay sent to the back for weight infringement
Borusan Otomotiv Motorsport’s Ibrahim Okyay will have to start 34th and last for the first of tomorrow’s two European Touring Car Cup races after the Turkish driver’s car was found to be more than 60kg underweight.
Okyay had qualified third fastest, behind the two rival BMWs of Czech driver Petr Fulín and the Slovak Mat’o Homola, 1.7 seconds down on Fulín’s time.
The demotion promotes Oleg Petrikov’s BMW to third, and Christian Fischer moves up to fifth on the grid to make it an all-BMW top five after a five place grid drop for SEAT driver Andreas Pfister.
Pfister, along with five other drivers in the Single-Make Trophy class received the five place drop for pit lane infringements. As a result, Jordi Oriola will start from the class pole on his ETCC debut, seventh overall in the Tuenti Racing SEAT Supercopa.
