Jan Magnussen switches to Chevrolet Lacetti
Jan Magnussen is going to drive a Chevrolet Lacetti in the Scandinavian Touring Car Cup race at Gothenburg this weekend and for the rest of the season. The team is switching from the BMW 320si because of technical problems.
“It has been most visible with Casper Elgaards car, who had to change engine in both races and we also had serious problems with the ECU in Magnussen’s car in the premiere,” said team boss Kent Bo Steffensen.
While Magnussen is getting a different car, it is still uncertain if he is going to make the race in Sweden. The Dane missed a race in the USA yesterday because of a kidney stone.
“We are not sure yet, but when I last spoke to Magnussen he said that it was not going to be a problem. But he is going to do one more check-up at a hospital before the race,” said Magnussen’s press manager Jan Kaiser to TouringCarTimes.com.
Magnussen is going to drive the Chevrolet Lacetti that Michel Nykjær took the DTC title with in 2009.
“We had the winner car of 2009 in our workshop. A car that we know is fast, that we have good knowledge of and trust 100% in. This is in my eyes the best solution for the rest of the year,” said Steffensen.
The team has ended the co-operation with Telesikring, something that also means that Elgaard leaves the team.
