SEAT Eurocup to support WTCC in 2008
The SEAT León EuroCup is a new championship born from the Supercópa SEAT León and will join the WTCC for six meetings in 2008, in Spain, France, Portugal, Germany, UK and Italy.
It was announced yesterday during in a press conference at Monza.
The best classified drivers will be rewarded with participation in the 2009 FIA WTCC season at the wheel of SEAT León cars.
“The SEAT León EuroCup is the result of all the efforts made in the last six years. Thanks to highly competitive costs, we are able to offer our customers a wide range of choices to compete at different championships with a reliable, high performance, technologically advanced car, and the EuroCup will give drivers the chance to race at the same World Championship events and circuits.
“They will be entertaining spectator events, whether live at the tracks or on television thanks to Eurosport’s magnificent coverage,” SEAT Sport director Jaime Puig said.
Marcello Lotti, general manager of championship promoter KSO commented, “We are delighted that SEAT Sport’s new EuroCup series will race alongside the FIA WTCC next season.
